The breeding facility at Crookedstane has been set up to establish sustainable captive populations of various species of eagle.
Eagles are under severe pressure in the wild, mainly from human interference, most populations are in decline and whilst
there are projects to protect the rarest and most vunerable species sustainable captive populations should have been
established many years ago. Eagles do not readily breed in captivity, here at Crookedstane we are continualy
refining our protocols to improve breeding success's. It is only when we can understand the nature of these magnificent
birds at first hand can we help the wild populations with protection and reintroductions.
A number of eagle species are bred at Crookedstane. A few are available each year.
